Mindanao Adventure 2012: Iligan City

It's our first time to see the beauty of Mindanao and from up there, these fluffy clouds welcomes us with a promise of adventure.

Day 1: Iligan City, Lanao Del Norte (Travel Time from CDO is about 2hrs due to road repair).

Our rented car (at Php2,500/day excluding gas), picked us up from Lumbia Airport and we headed straight to Iligan City, The City of Majestic waterfalls. Of more than 20 waterfalls around it, we only chose to visit Maria Cristina Falls which is the landmark of Iligan and Tinago Falls where KC Concepcion and Sam Milby had a romantic scene in the film Forever and a Day. We also had a limited time so we're not able to go see all of the other waterfalls.

THE FIERY CLOUD. While stuck in traffic, I took this cool photo.

1st Stop: Maria Cristina Falls. It powers the Agus VI Hydroelectric Plant to supply energy to the city.

Entrance Fee: Php30 each.

The Agus VI Hydroelectric Plant.
We stopped over along the road to have a taste of the Durian fruit courtesy of our newfound friends (Sid, our driver and his pal Poppy). It's too soft and I just can't explain its taste!

Swallow up your burp, please!
2nd Stop: Tinago Falls. "Tinago" is a Filipino term meaning "Hidden" and it lived up to its name. We had a hard time looking for it. We asked atleast 10 people for directions. And to get there, you have to take an approximately 500 steps down the deep ravine to see the beautiful waterfalls and experience its cold water.

Entrance Fee: Php5/person. Life Vest Rental: Php20 each.

You can buy bottled water from the site. I recommend you bring one when you go up and hike up the stairs! It helps you re-hydrate.

After an exhausting trek, we rested our feet and took a nap. We had roasted chicken, pork liempo, rice, and bottled iced tea for dinner at Botoy's to fill our hungry tummys. Whew!

It only cost us Php456 for 6pax, a delicious yet budget-friendly meal!
